Get fit and stay healthy at these lush lake parks in Malaysia’s capital.

One of the best things about visiting or living in Kuala Lumpur is the abundance of great food available almost round the clock. From the ubiquitous nasi lemak to delicious chicken rice, coma-inducing banana leaf rice and more, it’s easy to overindulge here. But it’s also important to stay healthy, so here are some of the best parks to burn the extra calories and enjoy a day out.

Taman Botani Perdana (Perdana Botanical Gardens)

Established in 1888, Perdana Botanical Gardens is nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Locals often refer to it as Lake Gardens as it was formerly known. The 91.6-ha park features manicured pathways, open spaces perfect for a game of Frisbees or leisurely picnic, as well as flower gardens like the Orchid Garden, Hibiscus Garden and Heliconia Garden, among others. Visitors can also explor the Herbarium or have a leisurely cruise on the lake. New additions to the park are Laman Perdana and Bamboo Playhouse. Ponds and streams all around the park
