    Similar to most regions in Malaysia, Kelantan is relatively hot and humid, with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. From April through March, Kelantan experiences torrential downpour of rain about 2500mm yearly. Rain falls between the months of April and March and also between the months of October and November.

    There are lots of local delicacies in Kelantan; some of the most sought-after treats are the Nasi Dagang, Nasi Kerabu, the Nasi Tumpang and lots more. Amongst all, the most popular is the Nasi Daganag which is a mixture of white and brown glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk, spices, garlic, and onions. This meal is usually eaten with fish or chicken and a brown paste of sugared chili. Another tasty meal is the Nasi Kerabu. There is quite a variety of Nasi Kerabu and they are all served with edible greens, and traditional chili paste. Another well-known rice dish is the Nasi Tumpang which is traditional rice prepared and packed in a cone-shaped banana leaf. It is cooked with meat floss, shrimp curry, and some sweet gravy. Some of the prominent restaurants in Kelantan include the Yati Ayam Percik, the Food Village Restaurant and the Satay Malaysia.

    There are lots of exciting places to visit in Kelantan. One of such places is the Istana Jahar known as the Jahar Palace. This palace used to be imperial residence in Kota Bahru. Constructed in 1855 by the Sultan Muhammad II of Kelantan for his grandson Long Kundur, this castle is currently the Museums of Royal Traditions and Customs in Kelantan. Pintu Gerbang Kota Sultan Ismail Petra is also another wonderful place to visit. This building was built to honor the enunciation of Kota Bahru as a cultural city in a bid to conserve the Malay tradition. Sultan Ismail Petra made the first move towards the construction of this arch; the arch was hence named after him. The Central Market is also another place worth visiting. Also known as the Pasar Siti Khadijah, this market is a great shopping arena.

    Transportation in Kelantan


    The public transportation system in the eastern part of Malaysia is correctly connected unlike those in the western part. The most common means of transportation is by taxis or bus.       My goodness, it looks like Kelantan has a pretty extensive collection of malls, the palace also sounds really interesting.
